A National Webinar was conducted by the Department of History, Sazolie College, on 19 September 2020, on the topic “Gendered Mission: The American Baptist Mission and Women’s work for Women in North East India, 1836-1950,” with Professor Tejimala Gurung, Department of History, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, as the resource person.
Professor Tejimala, highlighted the often-neglected positive role played by the Christian missionaries. She stressed on the emancipation of women which was made possible through access to education. She also dwelt on the conceptual aspect of the colonial rule and gave an overview of the historical processes: the coming of the Christian missionaries to India and to the North East of India.
 The programme was chaired by Dr. Puspanjoli D. Nakhro, IQAC Coordinator & Academic Dean, Sazolie College. Dr. Kangzangding Thou, Principal, Sazolie College, welcomed the participants of the webinar from various parts of India and the North East. Mr. Robin Temsu, Head, Department of History, Sazolie College was the moderator. More than 250 students, scholars and teachers attended the webinar. The webinar ended after a fruitful Q&A session.
